The final list of participants of St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy 2017 is now complete, and, judging by it, the Organizing Committee have managed to spice up the tournament. As it was expected, the two-time Grand Slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia is taking part in the competition for the first time. She has had an outstanding season and finished the year being number 9 in the world ranking. Svetlana and her family are natives of St. Petersburg, so, the crowd at Sibur Arena is going to support her as no one else. Citizens of St. Petersburg love their homegrown athletes! Multiple Grand Slam champion and the former leader of the world ranking Venus Williams from the United States has also confirmed her participation.
These star players will be joined by the top 10 athletes Simona Halep (4) from Romania and the winner of the WTA Finals in Singapore from Slovakia Dominika Cibulkova (5). Our Olympic champions Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, who also gained the victory in the WTA Finals in Singapore in the past season, will take part in both singles and doubles competition. Tennis supporters are also expecting good game from the last year’s semifinalist Daria Kasatkina. The winner and the runner-up of St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy 2016 Roberta Vinci from Italy and Belinda Bencic from Switzerland are also coming to Sibur Arena.
Among other participants from abroad there are tennis players worth of attention because of their consistent game of many years and their ability to surprise the favorites of the tournament or even win the title. These are the French Alizé Cornet and Kristina Mladenovic, Barbora Strycova from Czech Republic, the last year’s participant of the tournament from Hungary Timea Babos, Irina-Camelia Begu and Monica Niculescu from Romania, and former Russian citizens competing for other countries now – Daria Gavrilova, representing Australia, and Yulia Putintseva and Yaroslava Shvedova, both representing Kazakhstan. Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia is also coming to the city on the banks of Neva. Last but not least, Kiki Bertens is going to show the crowd in St. Petersburg her game, which made her one of the most interesting newcomers of the past season.

We would like to remind you that there is another tennis tournament happening during the main women’s event – “Formula Tennis-Xokkey” with the participation of the world tennis and hockey stars. Among the famous hockey players who have already confirmed their participation are Alexei Kovalev, Vladimir Malakhov, Alexei Yashin, Maxim Sushinsky, Pavel Bure, and Andrei Kovalenko.
