On Saturday, February 4th, the semifinal matches of St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy 2017 were played. The French Kristina Mladenovic beat the Russian Natalia Vikhlyantseva in 2 hours 9 minutes in the first singles semifinal – 4/6, 6/2, 6/2. Mladenovic made 6 breaks and her opponent broke only three times.

WTA Finals 2016 winner Dominika Cibulkova from Slovakia and Yulia Putintseva from Kazakstan clashed in the 2nd semifinal. For the second day in a row Putintseva saved match points playing against a Top10 player after she was one break down – just like yesterday in her match against Svetlana Kuznetsova. Yulia won four consecutive games and reached the final – 3/6, 6/4, 6/4. On Sunday Putintseva and Mladenovic will both vie for their maiden WTA title.

Kristina Mladenovic and the Australian Daria Gavrilova failed to reach the finals in doubles of St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy 2017. They lost to the Croat Darija Jurak and the Swiss Xenia Knoll on Saturday – 3/6, 4/6. Thus Mladenovic couldn’t pull off her second final in one day.
